In its sixth year, the Empty Bowls fundraiser Friday Night drew huge crowds to the Carson Mall for a night of delicious soup, live music, a silent auction, and all around festive fun.

I'll be eating soup for dinner tonight.

But unlike others in the community who struggle every day with hunger, my bowl won't be empty.

Hello and good day Carson City. We are headed into Friday, Dec. 7, 2018. The weekend is nearly here and your continued generosity never ceases to amaze. Ahead Friday is the annual KTVN Share Your Christmas Drive-By Food Drive held locally at the Governor's Mansion and at Minden's Carson Valley Inn. It is also the 6th annual Project Empty Bowls at Carson Mall, which has become a local soup for the soul favorite stop.

In its sixth year, Carson City has fought hunger during the holidays in a very unique way by serving delicious hot soups prepared by local restaurants that are dished up in ceramic bowls made by the hands of people in the community.

This Friday, the all-you-can-eat fundraiser returns, this time at the Carson Mall, with an array of holiday entertainment, an auction, raffle and more to go along with delicious, savory and soothing hot soup delights.

The event runs from 4 to 8 p.m. inside the Carson Mall's north entrance.

Light snow showers will continue today and and pick up tonight with less than an inch possible. As always be careful out on the roads. You'll be able to warm up at a number of venues today, including a holiday swing party with Big Bad Voodoo Daddy at Casino Fandango's new Grand Ballroom and at the Carson City School District Orchestra Program concert at the community center.

For six years now, the Carson City community has been helping to feed the hungry through Empty Bowls, an international project to combat hunger worldwide, with an annual fundraising event during the Christmas season.

With winter weather having arrived, it seems only appropriate the last Friday of November is when Carson City celebrates the holiday season in a big way by ringing in the spirit of giving with the annual Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights.

With steady rain in the city early this morning, slushy snow in the foothills and heavy snow in the Sierra, we are on our way to winter even though it is still technically fall. It sure is beginning to look like Christmas, especially as we head into the weekend, with Friday's Silver and SnowFlakes Festival of Lights at the capitol and Saturday's downtown Holiday Crawl.

The Carson Mall Craft Fair is open now for the holiday season, with local crafts, toys, clothes, and more!

Welcome to Halloween and the last day of October, Carson City. Today is Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018. Activities today feature trick or treating at the Carson Mall, the Downtown Candy Crawl, a haunted house at Western Nevada College and a harvest festival in the Carson Valley.
