The weather today is going to be another gorgeous day, sunny with highs of 56, a low of 28, and 52 percent humidity. On the schedule today we have a ton of wonderful events, from a live music benefit for the homeless, to pollinator workshops, a Roller Derby match, a Veteran's Remembrance Day celebration at Mills Park, and much more. Trial date set in April 2020 for suspect in murder of Gardnerville women, Reno couple
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 03/19/2019 - 3:44pmA trial date in April 2020 has been set for Wilber Martinez-Guzman, the 19-year-old accused of killing four people during a 10-day murder spree through Douglas and Washoe counties.
On Tuesday, Martinez-Guzman had an arraignment in Washoe County District Court, where he waived his right to a speedy trial. He pled not guilty to murdering four people in Reno and Gardnerville in January. He also pled not guilty for burglary and possession of stolen weapons.

Murder suspect indicted by grand jury, prosecutors to seek death penalty in Gardnerville and Reno slayings
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 03/14/2019 - 11:10amAn indictment was filed late Wednesday against the man accused of killing two Gardnerville area women and a South Reno couple in January. Prosecutors said Thursday they intend to seek the death penalty.
Accused murderer Wilber Martinez-Guzman will be tried on four murder counts. He's been charged with the murders of Connie Koontz, 56, and Sophia Renken, 74, both of the Gardnerville area, and Gerald, 82, and Sharon David, 80, of South Reno. The murder spree happened within a 10 day period.

Winter, though, continues its stubborn hold on the region, so bundle up this weekend in spite the extra hour of daylight. There's a chance of snow showers throughout the weekend with daytime highs only into the low 40s.

Man arrested again for trespassing at the Carson City Mall
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Wed, 02/06/2019 - 10:01amA 66-year-old transient man was arrested at the Carson Mall Tuesday afternoon after harassing customers and staff members.
Deputies were dispatched to the mall on the report of a trespasser who was known to both deputies and mall staff. He had been trespassed numerous times previously, and received a citation less than a week prior at the mall for trespassing.
Suspect formally charged with murders in Gardnerville and Reno
