Carson City Board of Supervisors approved $75,500 in funding for Curry Street farmer's market and related events, with some heated debate over lack of transparency from the Office of Business Development. The following statement is from Don Gibson, president of the Carson City Sheriffs' Protective Association, which represents 77 employees. It was read to the Board of Supervisors today:

The Carson City Board of Supervisors agreed to make about $7.8 million in cuts, including the elimination of about 20 positions from the Carson City Sheriff's Office.

The Carson City Board of Supervisors just voted 5-0 to make $7.8 million in cuts, that includes eliminating 20 positions from the Carson City Sheriff's Office.

With as many as 30 employees targeted for Carson City government layoffs, the equivalent of 23 of those positions may come from the sheriff's office.

Water and sewer rate hikes may move a step closer Thursday when the Carson City Board of Supervisors will hear plans to issue up to $32 million in general obligation water bonds over 30 years.
