Boys & Girls Club offers back to school activities, learning programs for Carson City area kids

The Carson City location at 1870 Russell Way is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with dozens of hands-on programs. Spots inside the building are limited to 135 kids each day, but countless activities will be held throughout the year.

United Federal Credit Union pledges $8K in donations to Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada

The State of Nevada through the CARES Act has allocated over $10 million in Coronavirus Relief Funds “CRF” to Carson City. Carson City’s Preliminary Plan of Expenditure allocated $1 million to be awarded to non-profit organizations located in Carson City.

Sisolak, after consulting with local and state agencies and officials, has decided all school in Nevada will be closed starting Monday, March 16, through Friday, April 3. With this direction, All Carson City School District schools will be closed for three weeks starting Monday, March 16.

No student activities or programs will occur. This includes after school programs.

Carson City Library Exhibit Displays Gourd Art

The local group is known as the Great Basin Gourd Patch meet monthly in the Johnson Lane area to share and learn techniques used on gourds. New 'Business Retention and Expansion' program under review between Carson City Library, NNDA, and Adams Hub

At the Board of Supervisor’s meeting on Aug. 1, a presentation was held to discuss a possible joint contract between the three entities, for the creation of a Business Retention and Expansion program, which would be funded by the Hop and Mae Adams Foundation.
Carson City Community Support Services Grant awards $380K in program funding

Fraternity team to stop in Carson City during 4,730 mile bike ride

The team will dedicate their summer to supporting people with disabilities through grant funding and community engagement. This group of 22 cyclists and six crew members is one of three Journey of Hope teams cycling across the country. This event, organized by The Ability Experience, is now in its 32nd year.

Around 90 participants picked up 200 pounds of trash! The Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department wants to extend our thanks for the efforts of the Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada.

There's a host of activities Friday and, looking ahead, a bevy of fun Saturday including a Mother's Day craft fair at the Carson City Community Center, a Star Wars themed bicycle safety day, a wine, cheese and dessert ride aboard the V&T, an early opening of the downtown farmer's market, the May Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, a memorial walk, presentations, comedy, live music and more. Boys and Girls Club to raffle Burning Man tickets at Kentucky Derby Fundraiser Saturday

Kentucky Derby Days 2019 will kick off at the Martin Hotel and Basque Restaurant, located at 308 N. Curry Street, at 2:30 p.m. and will run until 6 p.m.
All proceeds of the event will go to the Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada, located in Carson City.
Wednesday's Denim Day recognized during Sexual Assault Awareness and Child Abuse Prevention Month

For 20 years, the organization Peace Over Violence has organized Denim Day, a rape prevention education campaign, during which community members, elected officials, businesses, and students are encouraged to make a social statement with their fashion choices on this day by wearing jeans as a visible means of protest against misconceptions that surround sexual assault.
