Will Our Planning Commission Allow Carson To Bloom Again?
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Tue, 09/24/2013 - 6:58pmAmong all the closed businesses and empty buildings around Carson there are a few places that are finally starting to bloom both figuratively and literally. North Carson was doubly hard hit by the recession and the freeway bypass that diverts traffic around the north end of town. There are dozens of vacant business properties on the North end of our city. So any improvement should be a welcome change in our cities fortunes or rather misfortune of the last five years.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife (http://www.ndow.org) reports:
Fishing varies from day to day, with some days being good, while others being slow. Best time of day is from about 6:00 am to 10:30 am and then again after the shadows start to hit the water in late afternoon.
Best conditions seem to be with a 5 to 10 mph breeze, putting a small chop on the water.
A few fish are being taken with small dry flies, mostly yellow in color, but most of the luck is still coming with nymphs below an indicator or dry fly.

Outdoors with Don Q: A special way to celebrate a special day
Submitted by admin on Thu, 04/05/2012 - 7:24amElaine and I just returned home from a special way to celebrate a special occasion. March 30 was our 10th wedding anniversary and we had wanted to do something out of the ordinary for that event.
When we were married 10 years ago, we took a 19 day honeymoon in Southeast Asia, which included Hong Kong, China; Singapore, Malaysia; Bangkok, Thailand; and the last eight days at Bali, Indonesia.
Most interesting, we took my new mother-in-law, Mary Bottoms, with us!
I bet that very few of you took your mother-in-law on your honeymoon!
