During the winter, these hikes are moving onto paved paths in town and will be 3-5 miles long and with duration of about 2 hours. Water and closed-toe shoes required. PLEASE BRING A FLASHLIGHT because it is dark on these walks. If it rains or snows, meet at the Multi-Purpose Athletic Center (MAC) at 1860 Russell Way where we will walk inside the MAC. According to their website, Muscle Powered's motto is "Walk, Bike, Build," and along with building comes maintenance.

It’s the Nevada Walk to School Day and more kids will be walking and biking their way through your neighborhood. Virginia City is in for a crappy weekend, but they asked for it. The annual Outhouse Races begin with a parade down C Street at noon both days. Learn more about our local Sherriff’s Department today during ‘Coffee with a Cop’ at Dunkin Donuts. Join the Carson Library this evening for their family movie and craft.
Nevada schoolchildren can participate in International Walk to School Day

Children not taking part in an organized school event are encouraged to involve their family in safely walking or bicycling to school on that Wednesday and other days.

Senator Square: Carson High School open house and unplugged exciting success

Students and staff participated in daily activities supporting and encouraging a non-digital learning environment. Each day, five standards of Social and Emotional Learning were touched by encouraging students to power-down their phones and unplug.
NDOW allowing 20 black bears to be hunted; Demonstration planned in Reno
Submitted by editor on Mon, 09/04/2017 - 12:05pmOn September 15, 2017 the annual Nevada bear hunt season opens, and this year 45 hunters have been issued tags to participate in the season that lasts until Dec. 1, or until the quota of 20 black bears has been met, according to the Nevada Department of Wildlife. The quota in 2016 was 41 bears.
