Intentional or unintentional feeding of bears can result in the bear being killed, fines and possible jail time for violators.

This week’s ‘Flashback’ is the disco classic ‘Saturday Night Fever,’ in all its polyester glory. For those interested in a nursing career, Western Nevada College is hosting an informational meeting that will cover what can be expected for those enrolling in the educational program. Now that spring is more or less here, Carson City BMX is back on the track. You’ll find their races on Sunday mornings, but Wednesdays are for practice.

Hundreds of handcrafted willow reindeer are installed along 62 miles of Highway 395, spanning from south of Gardnerville all the way north of Reno. And now it’s time for them to head back to the North Pole, but it’s a task too large for one man.

The animals had been absent from these areas for more than 80 years.

As they try to craft a package that will pass, let’s recall themain principles, goals and problems facing tax reform.
The key goal is always economic growth. Growing the economy at a sustainably fast clip means on average everyone is better off and each person or family has more opportunity to improve their lot. It also allows us to afford more of the public goods that government can supply, including caring for the needy.

NDOW allowing 20 black bears to be hunted; Demonstration planned in Reno

The quota in 2016 was 41 bears.

It begins today with a 4-H dog show focusing on obedience and rally. You’ll have to wait until Wednesday for the carnival, but you’ll be rewarded for your patience with one dollar rides opening night, courtesy of Carson City Toyota. If you happened to be awake during the wee hours of the morning, you may have heard some thunder rattling about – there may be a little more of that on its way.

Lake Tahoe bear dies after mistakenly shot with live round

The bear, known around the Lake Tahoe town as Jasper, died as a result of her injuries.

Orphaned bear cubs re-introduced into Lake Tahoe backcountry
Submitted by editor on Thu, 02/16/2017 - 10:35amNevada Department of Wildlife wardens successfully released four orphaned bear cubs into the Lake Tahoe back country on Wednesday.
Last April, an 18-year-old female bear with four cubs — two males and two females — died of unknown causes on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe. She left the cubs, weighing seven to 10 pounds, wondering where their next meal would come from.

Virginia City’s Goblin Parade is followed by trick or treating down ‘C’ Street. In Minden, don’t miss the annual Trick or Treat Safety Street at the CVIC Hall. Adults can enjoy Halloween Parties at Crossroad’s Lounge or the Blue Bull.
