The 14th annual Cops and Kids Open House at the Carson City Sheriff's Office (CCSO) started at 10 a.m. Saturday morning and runs until 2 p.m. today.

It’s going to be gorgeous all weekend long, and there are plenty of ways to take advantage of the sunny weather. The Annual Cops and Kids Open House at the Carson City Sheriff’s Department is a family favorite with free food, activities, and games. Every year, Ormsby County Education Association and the Carson City School District sponsor “The Light of Education” awards, and this year’s CHS winners are Ann Britt, Johanna Davis, and first year teacher Monica Chavez who said, “I felt very shocked, honored, and blessed about winning the award.”

The Mark Twain Community Center is proud to present the dedication of our Storey County Veterans Tribute and Memorial, honoring veterans both living and deceased.

On Saturday, April 29, Pioneer High School students danced the night away at their prom. The event took place in the 1864 Grand Ballroom located on the second floor of the Brewery Arts Center.

Dayton Valley Days is an event that happens every year in the small town of Dayton, Nev. Locals come out to the event to see different vendor booths, have barbecue and chili cook offs, and get to enjoy some cool classic cars that attend the Dayton Valley Days Car Show "Show N' Shines."

The annual Carson River cleanup event is scheduled for this Saturday, Sept. 17, from 8 am until noon. Volunteers should check in at the Silver Saddle Ranch by 8 a.m. and bring a hat, sunblock, gloves, long sleeve pants and shirts.

Carson City residents got their shred on Saturday during a recycle event and barbecue to benefit Special Olympics of Nevada, raising $1,360 during the event.

Nevada Builders Alliance, with more than 700 member companies representing the tens of thousands of Nevada construction trade workers, celebrated its 50th anniversary Thursday evening at the Bob McFadden Plaza in Carson City.

The Carson City community is invited to participate in a shred and recycle day and barbecue to benefit Special Olympics of Nevada. Document destruction will be done on-site by American Document Destruction and electronics recycling will be collected by Computer Corps.

Fifteen incarcerated inmates, some being U.S. military veterans held at the Warm Springs Corrections Center in Carson City will be taking Western Nevada College classes with scholarships generated through an inmate barbecue fundraiser held earlier this year.

More than 700 kids from the age of 4 to 18, their parents, coaches, referees and volunteers are expected to attend opening ceremonies for Carson City AYSO Region 140 fall soccer on Saturday, Sept. 10.

"We are excited about how interested the community is in AYSO." says Region 140 Commissioner Travis Kennison. "These opening ceremonies are a way for us to show pride in AYSO."

Sunday was a day for law enforcement and Special Olympians as they teamed together at Silver Oak Golf Course to raise $2,200 for local athletic programs.

Nevada Department of Corrections Officer Tony Cloke notes the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run fundraiser has been carried between Peace officers and Special Olympians in Nevada for more than 30 years.

The community is invited to participate in a shred/recycle day to benefit Special Olympics of Nevada on Saturday, Sept 10 from 9 a.m. to noon at 206 S. Division Street in Carson City.

Rex Allen Jr. carries on the cowboy tradition this weekend in Minden, Nev. Fans have a rare opportunity to join the legend horseback on the trails his father, Rex Allen, made famous on the big screen. The concerts are also “bucket list” shows, since Rex Allen Jr. is on his farewell Sunrise to Sunset Tour.
