Sculptor Mischell Riley Donates Sculptures to Dayton School Garden

Dayton Intermediate School’s newly developing school garden will boast two large sculptures by internationally known sculptor Mischell Riley.

Riley, who is well known for work such as the 3-story high bronze lion at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, has donated two of her pieces to enhance the school’s garden landscape.

Carson City planners today will consider a special use permit to install a series of solar panels at Eagle Valley Middle School.

'Love and Other Drugs' is a twisted romantic comedy at the Galaxy Fandango

"Love & Other Drugs" is a sort of romantic comedy involving a drug salesman, Jamie (Jake Gyllenhaal) and an artist Maggie (Anne Hathaway) who is suffering from Parkinson's disease. It recalls that tear-jerker of yore, "Love Story," but doesn't go all the way. No cure but the couple walk off into the snow and to his Porsche Carrera rag top.

Las Vegas Artist Working On Gov. Gibbons Painting Despite Not Being Selected For Official Portrait

CARSON CITY – Budding Las Vegas artist Alex Krasky was not selected to paint the official portrait of out-going Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons for display in the state capitol, but he is going ahead with his canvas anyway with the hopes of personally presenting his work to the governor.

Backseat Gallery Presents September artist Rick Neubauer

A reception for Carson Valley artist Rick Neubauer will be held in the Backseat Gallery of Comma Coffee on Wednesday, Sept. 1 beginning at 5 p.m. Hors d'ouevres, beer, and wine available. The event is free. Music will be by Nathan Alanz.

Artist Erik Holland honored by Nevada Historical Society

Reno artist Erik Holland, who has created 22 paintings of Austin, Nev., historic buildings, is being honored at the Nevada Historical Society with a show and opening reception on Friday, Aug. 13, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Changing Gallery at the Nevada Historical Society Building across from the Fleishman Planetarium at the back of UNR Campus in Reno.

Citizens Protest Spending, Big Government at Carson City Tea Party Rally

A crowd of about 600 people gathered around the courtyard surrounding the Nevada State Capitol for the tea party rally. Many held signs condemning big-government policies, calling for Senator Harry Reid’s defeat, protesting tax increases, and ridiculing President Barack Obama.
