High winds expected for Carson City and valley regions through Monday
Gusty winds should arrive in Carson City and the valleys of western Nevada Sunday night prompting the National Weather Service in Reno to issue a High Wind Watch.
Winds will increase with a period of strong winds possible through the night and early Monday morning.
Southwest winds are expected to be 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph to 70 mph or more in the foothills and wind prone areas along Highway 395 from Carson City to Susanville and Surprise Valley, according to the weather service.
Strong winds produce difficult driving conditions for high profile vehicles. Secure loose outdoor objects, especially the Christmas decorations before the strong winds arrive.
Winds will continue Monday before the arrival of a cold front moving through the region Tuesday, expected to bring around 2 inches of snow to Carson City and the valley floors.
