Public comment open for Carson City marijuana grow operation groundwater permit
The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection’s Bureau of Water Pollution Control has entered the public notice period for the issuance of an individual Nevada State groundwater discharge permit for High Sierra Cultivation, a marijuana grow operation in Carson City.
The public comment period will end Nov. 18, 2019.
The BWPC has reviewed the application and has made a preliminary determination to issue the permit for High Sierra Cultivation, located at 3581 Drako Way, Carson City. Go here for the NDEP Fact Sheet.
The permit proposes to discharge a growing facility's waste stream to a beneficial use. During the summer time, the water will be used for onsite irrigation of trees on the 3.5 acres. During the winter time, the water will recharge the aquifer using a Rapid Infiltration Basin (RIB) system. The total flow rate will be 400 to 700 gallons per day.
Persons wishing to comment regarding this proposed action should submit their comments to the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, Bureau of Water Pollution Control, 901 S. Stewart Street, Suite 4001, Carson City, NV 89701.
