Carson City Scores 50 out of 100 in LGBTQ Human Rights Index Survey
RENO, Nev. (KOLO)-- The city of Reno reported Thursday it received a perfect score on the 2018 Municipal Equality Index, a Human Rights Campaign rating system of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) inclusion in city law and policy.
It is a 31-point improvement since its first assessment in 2013. The city scored 91 on the initial 2018 assessment, with less-than-perfect ratings because of non-discrimination laws and municipal services.
Carson City scored 50 and Sparks rated 44, both scoring nothing in the categories of municipal services, law enforcement and relationship with LGBTQ community. Mesquite ranked the lowest in Nevada at 31.
