Lakeview resident files lawsuit over neighbor's roofing business
A resident of the Lakeview in north Carson City has filed a lawsuit against the city and his neighbor alleging that a roofing business is being illegally operated in this residential neighborhood.
The lawsuit (attached below) by plaintiff Richard Schneider alleges that his Meadow Wood Road neighbor Clay Davis is operating his business, East Fork Roofing, from his residence, in violation of city codes.
The suit details Schneider's three-year battle over this issue, where he continually contacted city officials, sending them photos and videos of dump trucks and other commercial vehicles operating from the property. The suit also alleges that an outbuilding that is 50 percent larger than the main residence is being used for storage related to the roofing business, and that employees are commonly seen accessing the property, picking up and dropping off vehicles and supplies.
City rules for home businesses restrict the use of commercial vehicles and storage of materials, and do not allow employees to work out of residential homes. According to the lawsuit,
The lawsuit seeks to force the city to take action against Davis and enforce its rules about home businesses.
