Hospitality industry, higher education partnership take shape
Western Nevada College is collaborating with local business leaders in the hospitality industry to provide training to resort, hotel and restaurant employees. The Carson City Chamber of Commerce, Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce, Carson Valley Inn, and Hampton Inn and Suites are all part of the effort.
Together, they are offering the opportunity for current industry employees to enhance their skills. In addition, those who are interested in hospitality industry employment will be able to gain the skills and credentials that employers are seeking. Certifications that are nationally recognized by the American Hotel & Lodging Association will be available to program participants.
“We are pleased to collaborate with leaders in the tourism and hospitality industry in bringing this training to the WNC service area,” said David Steiger, WNC director of Economic Development. “Close cooperation between the college and the industry is the key to a successful program."
A training schedule is being developed by the college and its industry partners.
