Sen. Harry Reid to host President Obama at 20th Lake Tahoe Summit on Aug. 31
President Obama will be the keynote speaker at the 20th annual Lake Tahoe Summit on Wednesday, Aug. 31 in Stateline, Nevada Sen. Harry Reid announced Monday.
In 1997, Reid hosted the first summit in response to declining water clarity and environmental conditions at the Lake Tahoe Basin. The first summit, attended by then-President Bill Clinton and Vice-President Al Gore, brought national attention to the lake and spurred passage of the first Lake Tahoe Restoration Act in 2000.
Since then, hundreds of millions of dollars have been invested to restore Lake Tahoe’s clarity and natural systems in the local watersheds.
Nevada’s own rock and roll music group, The Killers, will perform and other important guests and speakers will be announced at a future date.
The 20th Annual Tahoe Summit will be Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Harveys Lake Tahoe Hotel and Casino Outdoor Arena in Stateline.
