Brush fire extinguished in the Mark Way area of Carson City (UPDATED)
A small brush fire reported near the intersection of Goni Road and Arrowhead Drive actually turned out to be farther away, with the location being the intersection of Mark Way and Emerson, Carson City fire officials report tonight.
The roughly 20 foot by 20 foot fire, caused by wind that knocked tree branches into a power line which caused a spark, was extinguished shortly after crews arrived, said Dan Shirey, battalion chief in operations for the Carson City Fire Department.
The fire was called in at around 6:20 this evening and was originally reported to be in the Goni Road and Arrowhead Drive areas. Multiple units responded but the actual fire was located some ways away.
Meanwhile, a Red Flag warning remains in effect through 10 p.m. tonight and then again on Saturday from 2 to 9 p.m. for the Carson City region, northwest Nevada and northeast California.
