Lyon County: Brush fire near Yerington contained after section of 95A closed
Firefighters in Lyon County were sent to a brush fire Thursday afternoon off US95A north of Wabuska Hill near Yerington. It was contained shortly before 3 p.m. and crews were mopping up, according to Lyon County officials via Twitter.
As of 3 p.m. the road was closed from Wabuska Hill, mile marker 30 to Lyon County mile marker 26.
The fire happened on BLM land, according to dispatch. Multiple fire trucks were called as winds were said to have caused it to grow. According to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center, the fire was reported at around 2:22 p.m.
The fire is believed to have started on the side of the road. Initial reports said there were no nearby homes or structures threatened. As of 3 p.m. the fire size had not been disclosed. Go here for updates.
