Carson City Fire Department responded early Sunday morning to the area of the Carson City landfill off of Flint Road near the rifle range for a brush fire.
The fire was called into dispatch at 5:21 a.m. Smoke and flames were visible. The 20 foot by 10 foot active fire was burning near a debris pile and near the area of a fire that happened early Friday evening, a Carson City Fire Department battalion chief said.
No structure are threatened at this time. The rate of spread in Sunday's fire is slow, likely because winds are calm.
The rifle range was closed. It will re-open once Carson City Fire Department gives the all-clear and the fire is out. Motorists are advised to stay clear of the area.
The cause is under investigation. Check back for updates.
