A 28-year-old Eagle Valley Middle School teacher aide was arrested Friday on suspicion of having sexual contact with a student, according to a criminal complaint filed in Carson City Justice Court.
Stephanie Mariskanish was arrested without incident and is being held on $20,000 bail. According to the complaint filed on Friday, the woman is accused of four counts sexual contact with a 14-year-old between Feb. 1 and March 30, 2014.
The contact allegedly took place at the woman's Roop Street Apartment, according to the complaint filed by Carson City Assistant District Attorney Mark Krueger.
Officers responded to the woman's residence in the 1000 block of Roop Street but were unable to locate. She was instead found at her parents residence.
According to the arrest report, the woman's father answered the door and officers asked for Stephanie. She came to the door and was advised she needed to go with police officers.
The woman's father asked her what it was about and the woman told him "I did some sexual stuff with a kid," according to the arrest report. The father asked "was it an accident?" and the woman responded "no, I knew what I was doing," the arrest report states.
Officers advised the woman of her rights and she was taken to jail.
