Carson City Chamber Leadership Class plant trees near Cancer Center in honor of Arbor Day
It's officially Arbor Day and the day to hug a tree! Or, better, plant one!
That's what some of the members of the Chamber's Leadership Class did early Friday morning as phase one of their class project.
20 trees were planted and an irrigation system was installed to water those babies. There are five more on order to be planted later. New signage and benches will come next.
The trees are the first phase of the project which will include art and benches. The Serenity Trail is behind the CTH Cancer Center and features the bee hotel built by the Class of 2019. Join us in thanking them for making our little corner of the world even more special, and in welcoming these adopted trees to their new home!
FYI - Carson City was designated as a Tree City USA in 1994 and is sponsored in Nevada by the Nevada Division of Forestry – Urban and Community Forestry Program, and by the National Arbor Day Foundation with support from the USDA Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters. NDF sponsored a grant for the trees.
