Carson High holds commemorative service for teacher, coach Shane Quilling
Hundreds gathered inside the big gymnasium at Carson High School to celebrate the life of Carson City teacher and coach Shane Quilling.
Quilling taught physical education and health classes at CHS, and was a head coach of the Carson Senators for seven years, leading football, softball and track programs at the high school.
He was also a loving father of three children.
Coaches, teachers, family, and friends paid tribute to Quilling through various personal stories and memories.
“I can speak for myself and others that any person who met coach Quilling were better people from that moment on,” said football head coach and coworker Blair Roman. “All of these memories we have with him just show the kind of character he possessed.”
Terry Knaff, long time friend of Quilling, also reflected on his caring personality.
“Shane had a way of saying and doing things that made you feel good about yourself,” he said. “And I was honored to have so many memories with him as a friend.”
“He gave us his love, he gave us his kindness,” said friend and college roommate Bob Riley. “But most importantly, he gave us his heart. And he will remain in our thoughts and prayers.”
According to staff and students at CHS, you can share any thoughts or stories of Quilling using the #CoachQuilling on various social media outlets.
