Eagles and Agriculture 2024 is set to captivate nature enthusiasts and heritage aficionados from Thursday through Sunday this week.
This annual event promises a delightful blend of majestic eagles and the rich tapestry of agriculture, highlighting the scenic beauty of the Carson Valley. The festivities begin on Thursday with an opening reception featuring a captivating photography exhibit.
Showcasing the works of esteemed area wildlife photographers, attendees will also have the rare opportunity to witness falconers and their magnificent birds up close. Guests can mingle over glasses of wine and delectable hors d'oeuvres, fostering camaraderie among fellow enthusiasts.
Friday begins the official tours, each offering unique experiences for attendees. The morning wetland tour promises sightings of abundant waterfowl and migrant birds on an exclusive property not visited in years. Later, participants can explore three historic Carson Valley barns, capturing the essence of these unique structures while delving into their storied past.
The day ends with the Falconer’s Dinner at Carson Valley Inn, featuring a special presentation by Dr. Vickie Joseph, veterinarian for the Bird of Prey Health Group, on Golden Eagle rehabilitation.
Saturday takes center stage with the Ranch Eagle tours in the morning, offering glimpses of bald eagles and other raptors amidst picturesque local ranches. The afternoon transitions to the Owl Prowl, where participants scour local barns and trees for elusive owls. The day concludes with a photo workshop, providing invaluable insights into camera operation and techniques for capturing the perfect shot.
Sunday morning marks the finale, featuring a continuation of the photo workshop followed by a private guided tour of the ranches. The Highway Byway tour also departs, offering scenic vistas and opportunities to spot raptors and wildlife along the local roadways. Spaces are still available for most events.
