Nevada Congressman Amodei votes to approve waiver for Secretary of Defense nominee
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-02) released the following statement Thursday after voting in support of a waiver to permit General Lloyd Austin to be confirmed as Secretary of Defense:
“In 2017, a bipartisan majority in the House approved the same waiver when General Mattis was nominated to serve as President Trump’s Defense Secretary. Today, I was pleased to join my colleagues in the House in maintaining that same bipartisan consistency by voting in support of a waiver for a position that is critical to keeping Americans safe and leading our men and women in uniform.”
Both the House and Senate approved the waiver. A Senate vote on Austin's confirmation is expected, possibly on Friday.
