2 Elementary kids capture the holiday spirit
Kayden went up to her mom one afternoon in October and stated, "Mom, I want to go the orphanage and donate presents and sing for all the kids." Robyn replied "I don't think that's how it works anymore, a lot of the kids live in foster homes, but I can find out about adopting a family." "That sounds great!" And so she did.
Contacting the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows Kayden Gildark (Left) and Madison Heely (Right) adopted a family of 3, a mom and 2 little girls for Christmas. Desirae, Madison's mom, and Robyn called various family members and friends to see if any of them had odd jobs the girls could do to earn money.
The girls raked leaves, dusted, brushed dogs, additional chores around the house, raked up dog poop, and filled candy bags. They worked together well into the end of November and earned a total of $130 with a $20 donation from a family friend. With a grand total of $150, Maddie and Kayden were able to buy, 2 sets of coats, socks, shoes, pants, outfit set, bath stuff, hair accessories, hats, gloves, and fun toys including a remote control car, a baby doll, blocks, and more. but the gift wasn't complete without 2 boxes full of non perishable food.
These girls really caught the holiday spirit and ran with it.
