VISTA AmeriCorps openings in Dayton area
The nonprofit Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties is seeking applicants for a service and training opportunity being offered in the Dayton, Nevada area. The successful applicant will have a dedication to teamwork aimed at increasing access to food, thereby improving food security and wellness in the community.
AmeriCorps members serving in the VISTA program through Healthy Communities'Rural Health and Nutrition Initiative (RHNI) from October 2021 to October 2022 will help build organizational capacity through outreach, volunteer and participant recruiting, and organizing nutrition and health education events.
Duties may include collaboration with farmers, research of best practices for inclusive food systems, coordination and recruitment of volunteers.
The living allowance for VISTA service members for 2021 is $575 every two weeks. After successfully completion of a year of service in the VISTA program, members will be eligible to receive the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award (education award) of $6345 or the end of service cash stipend of $1,800.
