Minden's Kids & Horses to host "Raise the Barn" fall fundraiser on Sept. 16
Kids & Horses presents"Raise' the Barn" fall fundraiser at Crystal Bay Casino on Sept. 16 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The organization will have Reckless Envy playing dancing tunes, Country Casey teaching line dancing, a BBQ dinner, Spirit Tasting with 72 Mile Spirits, and more.
Kids & Horses is "raising the barn" because their powered farm equipment is currently occupying half of the hay barn, and due to its exposure to the elements, it's also putting their equipment at risk for damage.
The farm equipment is necessary for the daily care and upkeep of their ranch and herd. Without these machines, their hard working staff and volunteers would not be able to provide the effective and efficient care that keeps the facility operating, which would greatly affect their ability to provide the programs and services that so many families rely on.
The addition of the new building will also allow them to free up space in hay storage, which will increase their capacity to store food for the herd, and reduce the cost and frequency of delivery.
It will also reduce safety risks by separating fuel sources, like hay and feed from gasoline and gasoline powered equipment. Safety is a big deal to Kids & Horses.
Being able to store more food in the fall also reduces the risk of delays and delivery issues during the winter months due to adverse weather conditions. Kids & Horses's ability to continue providing consistent and quality care for their equine partners is important to the success of their programs.
They said, the community's help makes their mission possible.
