Author Teri Case of Carson City wins Best New Fiction, 2018 American Fiction Awards
Carson City author Teri Case, who was raised on Tiger Drive and penned a novel by the same name "Tiger Drive," has won Best New Fiction with the 2018 American Fiction Awards for her work.
The book, "Tiger Drive" is about a family whose family secrets and addictions have caught up to them. The novel puts readers in the minds of a mother, daughter, father, and son to show how addiction, poverty, and secrets can derail the best of intentions. But with a little hope and a dose of trust, the human spirit can prevail," said Case in a news release.
This past June, Case hosted her first book event at Comma Coffee in Carson City. Journalist Teri Vance wrote about the event that appeared June 20 on Carson Now.
The American Fiction Awards recognizes books in mainstream, independent, and self-publishing.
"I'm grateful for the recognition and also the amazing support from Carson City," says Case. "Carson City has a way of making a person grow and glow."
When asked what she's working on now, Case shared, "In the Doghouse. It's about a couple's breakup from their dog's point of view. But like Tiger Drive, it's about characters struggling with identity and purpose, and trying to matter." She jokes, "It will be coming to a dog park near you in 2019."
