School leaders to discuss Title IX implementation March 10
The school superintendents of Carson City, Douglas County and Lyon County districts will be discussing Title IX implementation in their districts on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 7:00 PM at the Marlette Hall in the Cedar Building on the WNC campus.
Title IX legislation is designed to ensure equality in education for ALL students by eliminating sex-based discrimination. It addresses inequities that hinder students' ability to succeed in school and beyond.
Title IX affects all areas of education, including:
1. Recruitment, admissions and housing;
2. Career and technical education;
3. Pregnant, parenting, and/or married students;
4. Science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM);
5. Sexual harassment and assault;
6. Comparable facilities and access to course offerings;
7. Financial assistance; student health services and insurance benefits;
8. Harassment based on gender identity; and
9. Athletics.
