Carson City Schools on 2 hour delay Friday

Due to winter related conditions, all schools in the Carson City School District will begin 2-hours later than their usual start time, Friday, Jan. 17, 2020.

All Pre-K and Early Childhood Carson City school classes, those include morning recreation programs, are canceled. Breakfast will not be served. Principals will adjust the school schedule for the shortened day. Educators and staff should arrive safely and as early as they are able, well before school is to begin on the shortened schedule.

Western Nevada College says Carson City campus closed Monday due to storm

Western Nevada College's Carson City campus and Child Development Center will be closed Monday due to weather. Interactive Video classes transmitting from Carson City to other campuses are also cancelled, school officials announced.

All Douglas County schools are operating on a 90-minute delay Wednesday morning, according to the Douglas County School District web site. This delay applies to both valley and lake schools.

Carson City commute for Jan. 24: No controls at lower elevations, schools on schedule

There are currently no controls on roads and highways at lower elevations in Northwestern Nevada, including Interstate 580, U.S. Highway 395, Old 395 Alternate through the Washoe Valley and U.S. Highway 50 East from Carson City, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT).

East Fork Professional Firefighters donate 204 new coats to Douglas County children

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. – East Fork Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 3726 collected $3,436 from its members, including an individual donation of $1,000, to purchase 204 new, warm winter coats as part of the Operation Warm Coats for Kids Foundation. Coats will be distributed to school district officials Tuesday, Dec. 20.

The first drop-off is at C.C. Meneley Elementary School in Gardnerville at 9 a.m. and continues throughout the day at Douglas County Schools.
