RSVP CEO to speak at Monday's Democratic luncheon
The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Molly Walt, chief executive officer of the Nevada Rural Counties Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), where she is responsible for the overall strategic, fiscal, operational, government and community relations of the organization. She is committed and enthused to lead staff in accomplishing RSVP's mission of providing lifesaving volunteer programs that help seniors maintain their dignity, self-respect and independence.
Molly grew up in Montana and has lived in Carson City for 30 years with her husband and family. She holds a Master of Leadership & Supervision (M.A.Ed.), a bachelor’s in Elementary Education and a Paralegal degree. She taught in the Carson City School District from 1999-2014 and was the Eagle Valley Middle School PTSA teacher of the year for 1998-1999. She frequently speaks at public events and conferences, sharing her passion for volunteerism and its benefits for both individuals and communities.
Molly has extensive experience working with public agencies and nonprofit organizations. She has been involved in numerous community initiatives and activities, including the Pinkerton Ballet Theatre, the Great Basin Youth Soccer League, the Comstock Shootout Soccer Tournament, the Wide Smiles Classic Youth Basketball League, the Carson City Senior Center Advisory Council, Carson City Redevelopment Authority, Carson City Health Board, Partnership Carson City, Carson City Convention & Visitors Bureau, Carson City Parks and Recreation Commission, and the Nevada Association of Counties. She is currently chair of the Nevada Lifespan Respite Care Coalition and a member of the Douglas County Sheriff’s TRIAD Committee.
Molly is skilled in government affairs, grant writing, fundraising, event planning and media relations. She served on the Carson City Board of Supervisors from 2009-2012, and is currently District 6 representative on the Carson City School District's Board of Trustees. serving as the board's Individual Liaisons to Carson High School and Empire Elementary. She was appointed by Gov. Brian Sandoval to the Nevada Out-of-School Time Task Force, and by Gov. Joe Lombardo to the Nevada Commission on Aging and Nevada Volunteers. While serving as Executive Director of the Nevada Commission for Women, she oversaw statewide celebrations of the 100th anniversary of women achieving the right to vote.
This event is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Monday, January 29th, and can be attended either in person at Black Bear Diner, inside Max Casino, or online via Zoom.
