Carson City's Wild Horse Children’s Theater auditions open for 'Dear Edwina, Jr., The Musical'
Wild Horse Children’s Theater looking for actors, singers and dancers, ages 5 to 15, for our spring musical production of the Northern Nevada premiere of "Dear Edwina, Jr." Auditions will be held Thursday, Jan. 13 and Saturday, Jan. 15 at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall.
Performances are the first two weekends in April. "Dear Edwina, Jr." is a heartwarming musical about the joys of growing up. Action centers around a backyard performance by 13-year-old Edwina Spoonapple and friends, auditioning for the Kalamazoo Advice-a-Palooza Festival.
The “show-within-show” consists of a series of letters from kids seeking advice on manners, shyness, crushes — the usual kid stuff. Letters and responses are set to songs, some short and some long. The songs are funny and touching, and a few — Frankenguest,” “Fork,Knife,Spoon,” “Hola, Lola,” and “Sing Your Own Song” — are joyously wonderful.
"Dear Edwina, Jr." calls itself "a musical comedy for kids," but that tagline somewhat undersells it. The characters are kids, the subject matter is kid-friendly, but there's enough musical comedy for general audiences in this darling little show, filled with songs and laughs.
“This show has more featured parts than any other musical Wild Horse Children’s Theater has produced in the past! Director Carol Scott said. “This show has tons of roles for boys and girls and will be absolutely perfect for our incredibly talented 5–15-year-old rising stars!”
Auditions are by reservation only! To schedule an audition, call (775-443-5587) or email Director@wildhorsetheater.com for an audition time.
More information and the audition packet, including music and lyrics for the audition songs, can be found on the Wild Horse website at www.wildhorsetheater.com . See you on stage.
