Graham's Word: Community Sports and Clubs Provide Outlets to Kids; Reduce Crime and Violence

We are hearing so much about bullying these days. Of course it's been around since the dawn of time. I believe the best way to combat bullying is sports/after school activities or clubs.

A lot of the kids that are bullied go straight home and do nothing but think about the bad stuff that happens to them and how they are going to make it stop. It consumes their thoughts.

I was bullied in school, but I never had time to think about any of that because I was involved in sports (baseball, basketball, bowling, soccer)

Tyler Weworski retains lead in tour qualifier at Dayton Valley

Here are the third round highlights of Stage One Web.com Tour Qualifying at Dayton Valley Golf Club, Dayton, Nev.

Tough conditions for start of qualifier at Dayton Valley

Dayton, Nev. — Cool fall temperatures and a gusty northeast wind played havoc with scoring in the first round of the Stage One Web.com Qualifying Tournament at Dayton Valley Golf Club. A combination of the wind blowing from the opposite direction from normal, fast and hard greens and difficult pin placements lead to the high scores.

Dusty Fielding turned in the best performance of the day with a 3-under 69. Fielding from Washington, Utah was the low qualifier in last year's PGA Tour qualifying at Dayton.

High School Football: Carson capitalizes to win over Damonte Ranch

For three quarters Friday night at Carson High, everything was normal. Two evenly matched Sierra League football teams had played a respectable, if slightly mundane, game, with the Senators finally pulling ahead thanks to two mistakes in the Damonte Ranch kicking game.
But there were no fireworks on the field to match those set off at halftime during Carson’s homecoming celebration.

49ers Send Mixed Signals In Smith Situation

All I can say is: What was that? No, not about the 49ers pitiful performance on Sunday but about how the 49ers organization is handling the All-Pro Aldon Smith situation. Aldon Smith was arrested for his second DUI in two years on Friday night after he crashed into a tree in San Jose. The 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh said earlier this week that the consequences would not come down by the team but rather by the league itself. Here is part of his statement:

Graham's Word: Chase Your Dreams; No Matter What

Sometimes we all need to remind ourselves of who we really are. To stay true to ourselves. It's been an honor and privilege doing what I do.

Whether its inside the broadcast booth or doing community service outside the booth. There are days that I need to remind myself that I'm not the only one who has expectations of me to succeed.

My own expectations are the toughest for sure, but I am well aware that what I do also impacts others.

I needed to go back and refresh my memory of just who expects me to do well, and who I need to continue to be.
