Don Lehr, who spent the past 20-plus years working to restore, repair and reopen the Ormsby House hotel in downtown Carson City, died March 27 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

He was 92.

Mary Carolyn Bangert was born March 29, 1931 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Carl Hugo and Alberta (Kumler) Grimm. She grew up in Cincinnati, graduating from Withrow High School and then Wooster College in Wooster, Ohio with a BA in Music.

Robert Glover Purvis (Bob) 66, born August 16th, 1955 in Berkeley, California died in Minden, Nevada April 30th, 2022

A procession of law enforcement officers from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office went through Carson City late Thursday afternoon in honor of a retired law enforcement officer who recently passed away.

The officer was a highly decorated retired Reno, Douglas and Sparks police officer. The name of the officer has not been officially released. The procession ended at Walton's Chapel of the Valley on North Roop Street.

A Carson City resident since 1968, James R. McGee passed away at home on March17, 2022 after a brief illness surrounded by family at the age of 90.

A celebration of life for Linda D. Costa, 74, a 49-year Carson City resident, will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at The Plaza Event Center, 211 East 9th Street, Carson City, Nevada from 2:00-4:00 p.m.

Our loving brother and friend, James Robert Czadek, passed away at his home in Long Beach on February 23, 2022. Jim was born in Hayward, Wisconsin on October 6, 1952 to Paul and Beverly Larson Czadek.

On February 21, 2022, the Marine Corps Police Department, Mountain Warfare Training Center, Bridgeport, CA, lost one of our federal police officers to complications of a long standing illness. Lieutenant Jason T. Dumlao was a twelve year veteran of the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Program, a United States Marine, and a Combat Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom who leaves behind a wife and four children ages five to 13.

Dr. Edmond Pierczynski, long-time Washoe Valley resident, passed away at the age of 86, at his home on March 2, 2022, with his family by his side.

Known affectionately as ‘Dr. Ed’ or ‘Dr. P.,’ Ed spent 26 years serving his community as a Family Practice physician. He was a member of the charter class of the University of Nevada, Reno, Medical School, and upon completing his internship and residency, he returned to Carson City to practice in 1976. Ed’s exceptional skill and empathy left an indelible impression on countless families in the area.

Patricia Anne Josten (nee Kelley), 70, peacefully passed away November 8, 2021 at home in Reno, NV surrounded by loved ones. She is the wife of David Frank Josten and they enjoyed 41 years of marriage together.

Native Carson City resident Rhonda Lynne Pendegraft died peacefully while surrounded by family on November 4th, 2021, after a courageous fight against prolonged illness.

Gary Haynes of Silver Springs, Nevada passed away on October 10, 2021. He was 80.

Gary was born December 8, 1940 in Los Angeles, California, and moved to San Francisco as a child. Gary later moved to South San Francisco were he was raised and graduated from South San Francisco High School. Gary excelled in sports, and held many high school and county records for swimming.

Paula Denise Rubke, 47, of Carson City, passed away unexpectedly on October 26th, 2021.

Paula was born on November 21, 1973 to loving parents Paul and Sandy Desormier in Vallejo, CA. Paula enjoyed swimming, photography, and concerts in her youth, and her passion for photography continued throughout her life. After graduating from Vallejo High School in 1991, Paula went on to complete a degree in History at Sonoma State University.

Clark Scott Taylor, April 15th, 1968 - October 17th, 2021

Clark was born on April 15th, 1968 in Clarion County, Pennsylvania. He was born to Bonnie Kay Brown and Frank George Taylor.

He grew up in Carson City, where he graduated from Carson High School in 1986, and attended UC Monterey to study hospitality management, and trained under some of the best chefs in Nevada, broadening his naturally talented culinary skills as well as his ice carving artistry.

John N. Lujetic, died Sept. 10, 2021. He was 63. There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October. 16, 2021, at 11 a.m. at High Sierra Fellowship, 1250 Gilman Ave, Gardnerville, NV 89410, by Pastor Rich Lammay, John’s cousin.

Retired Nevada Army National Guard Maj. Gen. Robert T. Herbert, who rose through the organization’s ranks as an aviator and served as long-time senior policy advisor for Sen. Harry Reid, died suddenly Friday. He was 64.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports Herbert was killed Friday in a car crash.

The hard working visionary with a big heart. On a sunny and clear September Sunday morning at his home in Carson City, Garth Richards peacefully completed his life’s mission, one day shy of his 86th birthday after a brief illness.

Phyllis Furlong, the wife of Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong, died Sept. 13, 2021. She was 64. There will be a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021, at 10 a.m. at Walton’s Chapel, Carson City. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Nevada Humane Society.

We are sad to report the passing of Garth Richards. A native of Carson City, Garth and his wife Joanie, strongly believed in giving back to the community that has given so much to them both.

Virginia Anne (White) Nuzum, 89, died Friday, August 27, 2021, in Carson City, Nevada. Born to Virginia and James B. White on July 20, 1933 in Reno, Nevada, Virginia lived most of her life in the state she was born in and loved. Very bright, she graduated from high school two years early and later attended the University of Nevada.

Marilyn Blatter Crawford died peacefully and quietly at her home on August 6, 2021. She was 93 and had lived in Carson City since 1951.

At age 92, Florence Yhvona Martin passed peacefully on June 11, 2021 at Skyline Estates Assisted Living Center. While medical personnel called it, “Failure to Thrive”, that phrase in no way described the dynamic, energy-filled life Yhvona led.

Surrounded by his loving family, James Y. Robertson passed peacefully on June 13, 2021. Jim was born to Mr. and Mrs. Anthon and Lucille Robertson in Cleveland, Ohio on May 29, 1926. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Bernice, and beloved wife of 66 years, Nancylee Masters Robertson. He is survived by his children, Kent and Rosanna Robertson, Bruce and Gayle Robertson, and Lynn and Gary Lyon, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Todd Bishop passed peacefully on March 28th from Cancer. He was a friend to all he came in contact with.

With his love for golf he was Superintendent at Empire Ranch Golf course and Glenbrook Golf Club.

He is preceded in death by his Mother Patricia and daughter Alexia.

On Friday, March 19, 2021, Larry Moore, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 60 in Dayton, Nev.

Larry was accomplished in the concrete industry, finishing his near 40 year career as an esteemed CDL concrete mixer driver who was loved by his coworkers, both past and present.

Robert "Bob" Allen Fancher 1947-2021
Bob passed away March 6, 2021. Just short of his 74th birthday.
Born at US Naval Hospital, Long Beach, California. He was preceded in death by his mother Helena, his father Eugene and his brother Jim.
A graduate of UC Berkley. Bob went on to a career in the gaming industry. Employed at Caesars Tahoe for several years. He went on to tour the world on the cruise ship Crystal Harmony as the casino manager.
Bob retired to care for his ailing mother at her home in Saratoga, California until her passing.

Our beloved matriarch has spread her wings and reunited with the love of her life. Bertha S. Ward walked through the pearly gates and into the kingdom of heaven on March 4, 2021. She was not alone during her final moments. She was surrounded by her loved ones as she always had been in life.
