Obituary: Donald Lehr, entrepreneur, owner of Ormsby House, dies at 92

Don Lehr, who spent the past 20-plus years working to restore, repair and reopen the Ormsby House hotel in downtown Carson City, died March 27 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

He was 92.

Douglas County Sheriff's Office motor procession honors highly decorated law enforcement officer

A procession of law enforcement officers from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office went through Carson City late Thursday afternoon in honor of a retired law enforcement officer who recently passed away.

The officer was a highly decorated retired Reno, Douglas and Sparks police officer. The name of the officer has not been officially released. The procession ended at Walton's Chapel of the Valley on North Roop Street.

On February 21, 2022, the Marine Corps Police Department, Mountain Warfare Training Center, Bridgeport, CA, lost one of our federal police officers to complications of a long standing illness. Lieutenant Jason T. Dumlao was a twelve year veteran of the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Program, a United States Marine, and a Combat Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom who leaves behind a wife and four children ages five to 13.

Dr. Edmond Pierczynski, long-time Washoe Valley resident, passed away at the age of 86, at his home on March 2, 2022, with his family by his side.

Known affectionately as ‘Dr. Ed’ or ‘Dr. P.,’ Ed spent 26 years serving his community as a Family Practice physician. He was a member of the charter class of the University of Nevada, Reno, Medical School, and upon completing his internship and residency, he returned to Carson City to practice in 1976. Ed’s exceptional skill and empathy left an indelible impression on countless families in the area.

Gary was born December 8, 1940 in Los Angeles, California, and moved to San Francisco as a child. Gary later moved to South San Francisco were he was raised and graduated from South San Francisco High School. Gary excelled in sports, and held many high school and county records for swimming.

After graduating from Vallejo High School in 1991, Paula went on to complete a degree in History at Sonoma State University.

He grew up in Carson City, where he graduated from Carson High School in 1986, and attended UC Monterey to study hospitality management, and trained under some of the best chefs in Nevada, broadening his naturally talented culinary skills as well as his ice carving artistry.

Retired 2-Star General, longtime Nevada Guard advocate Maj. Gen. Robert T. Herbert dies

Retired Nevada Army National Guard Maj. Gen. Robert T. Herbert, who rose through the organization’s ranks as an aviator and served as long-time senior policy advisor for Sen. Harry Reid, died suddenly Friday. He was 64.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports Herbert was killed Friday in a car crash.

Carson City loses local businessman, entrepreneur icon Garth Richards

White on July 20, 1933 in Reno, Nevada, Virginia lived most of her life in the state she was born in and loved. Surrounded by his loving family, James Y. Robertson passed peacefully on June 13, 2021. Jim was born to Mr. and Mrs. Anthon and Lucille Robertson in Cleveland, Ohio on May 29, 1926. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Bernice, and beloved wife of 66 years, Nancylee Masters Robertson. He is survived by his children, Kent and Rosanna Robertson, Bruce and Gayle Robertson, and Lynn and Gary Lyon, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Bob passed away March 6, 2021. Just short of his 74th birthday.
Born at US Naval Hospital, Long Beach, California. He was preceded in death by his mother Helena, his father Eugene and his brother Jim.
A graduate of UC Berkley. Bob went on to a career in the gaming industry. Employed at Caesars Tahoe for several years. He went on to tour the world on the cruise ship Crystal Harmony as the casino manager.
Bob retired to care for his ailing mother at her home in Saratoga, California until her passing.
