Douglas was born in Omaha to parents Richard and Arlene (Andrews) Schmidt on January 11, 1962. He grew up in East County. He was a Boy Scout, later becoming an Eagle Scout after building a drain for St. Aiden's Episcopal Church.

63-year old Glenn A Collier, a long time resident of Carson City, NV and father of three children passed away unexpectedly January 21, 2021.

Carolyn Lee Davis passed away November 19, 2020, aged 73. She was a long-time resident of Carson City, where she moved after receiving her Bachelor of Science in Anthropology at Western Oregon University at the age of 53.

Steven L. David, born December 10, 1955, passed away on the morning of Saturday November 28th, 2020 at his home with his wife Debbie at his side.

Paul Donald Hochsprung, born Oct. 21, 1953, passed away at Carson Tahoe Hospital with his wife at his side on March 23, 2020, after a recent diagnosis of metastatic melanoma.

Holly Marie Shrum died in Carson City, NV on Monday October 12, 2020 surrounded by her family. Holly was 44 years old.

Obituary for Phyllis Ann (Annie) Trautwein

Annie was born January 4,1940 in Cleveland, Oklahoma to Jay and Mamie Hart. She attended public schools in Seminole, Cushing, and Stroud, Oklahoma. Annie moved to Sterling, Colorado in 1959 where she met and married Kenneth Trautwein the same year.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will get underway at 1 p.m. today, Thursday, for Carson City Mayor and native Nevadan Robert “Bob” Crowell.

UPDATE: On Wednesday, by executive order, Governor Steve Sisolak ordered the flags of the United States and the State of Nevada to be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and State public buildings and grounds from sunrise until sunset on Thursday, October 29, 2020 as a mark of solemn respect and in remembrance of Carson City Mayor and native Nevadan Robert “Bob” Crowell, whose memorial is being held Thursday.

Lynn Doyal, 73, passed away October 14, 2020, with his wife Janis by his side at their home. Lynn was born in Turlock, California on May 8, 1947 to Jack and Elyse Doyal. He lived most of his life in Alpine County, California.

Reverend Dr. Gary Robert Buchanan, local composer, conductor, Sonatherapist, minister at the International Community of Christ, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on October 16, 2020, after a year-long fight against cancer. He is survived by his wife Amanda Buchanan, sons Bradley Buchanan of Ventura, California, and Kym Buchanan of Wisconsin, daughter Amy Buchanan-Rodriquez of Reno, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Verne R. Horton of Carson City, Nevada passed away at his residence on October 19, 2020. He was born February 1, 1941 in Los Angeles, CA and is survived by loving and devoted wife of 23 years, Brenda; sons Sean and Scott, daughter Debra, 5 grandchildren and brother, Jim Horton.

Mr. Thomas A. Bohemier, 74, of Brooksville, Florida passed away peacefully with his wife and children by his side on October 11, 2020.

Michael A. Smith of Lake Coleman, Texas, formerly of Carson City, Nev., died Sept. 5, 2020 at his residence in Coleman, Texas surrounded by his loving family. He was born Michael A. Smith on Feb. 21, 1948 in Coleman to Jack Smith and Edna Elizabeth Keeney Smith.

The announcement that Bill Henderson was named Carson Valley Inn sales director was published on Valentine’s Day 1985, beginning a 35-year love affair with Douglas County that lasted until his death from pancreatic cancer on Labor Day.

Former Nevada Supreme Court Chief Justice Thomas L. Steffen died peacefully from natural causes on Sept. 1, 2020 in Hendersonville, TN. He was 90. Steffen served on the Nevada Supreme Court from 1982 until his retirement in 1997.

After an almost two-year battle with pancreatic cancer, Sparks Mayor Ron Smith has died. He was 71 years old.

Mayor Smith was officially sworn in as the 25th Mayor of Sparks on November 13, 2018. He was elected to the Sparks City Council in November 2006 and was re-elected to four-year terms in 2008, 2012 and 2016. He served as Sparks Mayor Pro Tempore from 2012-2018.

Yvonne Joyce David

Yvonne J. David, resident of Carson City, Nevada, passed away on July 16, 2020. Yvonne was born on May 5, 1944 to the parents Nellie (Alma) Lovingier and Arthur A. Lovingier in San Francisco, CA. Yvonne arrived in Carson City in 1977 and began to work for the State of Nevada. She loved working for Western Nevada College, assisting teachers and staff before retiring.

Misty JoAnne Buttner, our sister, aunt,daughter, and friend has left us on her journey to the spirit world at the age of 59 years old.
She is preceded in death by sisters Jody Efford and Cathy Jo Buttner, and father Jack Buttner; she leaves behind her mother Geraldine Buttner; brothers Dick Buttner (Debbie), Bob Buttner (Diane), Tony Buttner, and sister Mary Jane Ostrander (Chris).

Nellie Rosalyn Midge Sherman (88) of Butte, Montana, a former Stateline resident, passed away in Great Falls, Montana, on June 30, 2020.

Rosalyn was born on March 11, 1932, at her family’s homestead on the Bootlegger Trail east of Ledger, Montana. She was the youngest of six children that were born to Robert and Myrtle Midge.

She was known as “Nellie” to many, but as “Rosalyn” to others.

Margaret Susan Mitchell, nee Griffin, passed peacefully at her home in Carson City on May 26, 2020 following a lengthy illness. She was born in Pasadena, California on February 3, 1952 to Richard D. Griffin Sr and Helen Ruth Joy Griffin. The family moved to Reno in 1959 when Margaret’s father was stationed at Stead Air Force Base.

Susie Bongers-Gunkel passed away peacefully the morning of Sunday, May 10, 2020 on Mother’s Day with the love of her family surrounding her after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma (Brain Cancer).

JoAnn was born on December 17, 1936 to Florence Brazonavich and John Nevers Sr in Carson City, NV. JoAnn unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 17, 2020.

Services will be held on Saturday February 29, 2020 at 11:00 at the Carson Colony Gym, 2900 South Curry Street, Carson City, NV 89703.

Viewing will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am before the services. Burial will be at the Stewart Cemetery after services. Fellowship and potluck will follow back at the Carson Colony Gym. Everyone is welcomed. Flowers or food donations is appreciated.

Jerry Eugene Kilpatrick passed away at home surrounded by his family. He was born August 17, 1940. He died on February 12, 2020.

Shirlee Leah Boyer Veverka, age 84, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020, from complications of Parkinson’s disease, at her daughter’s home in Carson City, Nevada, surrounded by her four children.

Sandra Louise Osheroff, aka Sandy, nanny, and mom, a mother, bookkeeper, dog lover and community mover and shaker, adored by many, feared by some, died of cancer on January 20, 2020 in Carson City, Nevada at the age of 82.

A memorial service will be held for Kerry L. May at the home of Glen and Jackie Cheney, 7548 Old Highway 395 in Washoe Valley, Nev. at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, 2020 with a small reception to follow. He was 55 years old and was born and raised in Carson City.
