Quad-County COVID-19 cases increase by 20; 23 recoveries reported

We are reporting 20 new cases and 23 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 12,488, with 11,855 recoveries and 225 deaths; 408 cases remain active.
Carson City Historic Resource Commission Announces the 2021 Scavenger Hunt

In recognition of Historic Preservation and Archeological Awareness Month, the City’s Historic Resource Commission has organized the 2021 Scavenger Hunt.
This year’s hunt “Founding of the Historic District” focuses on building foundations in the historic district and in the downtown commercial core.
Carson City Sheriff’s Office arrests two suspects for multiple vehicle burglaries

On Wednesday, April 28, 2021 the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division with the assistance of Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and Storey County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies executed search warrants on a Storey County home and vehicle. Two people were arrested.

A 40-year-old Stagecoach man was arrested on a Walker River Township warrant for failing to appear.

A “Pie’d for Poverty” fundraiser is to be held today, April 30 at the Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery where residents can pie local Carson City leaders for the sake of raising funds for Friends in Service Helping, also known as FISH.
BLM land in Lyon County changes to day-use only to discourage long-term camping, Lyon County Manager 'unaware' of evictions

In Nevada and across most of the Western United States, BLM (Bureau of Land Management) Land has generally been available to anyone who wishes to camp for up to 14 days in one spot.
However, in certain areas those rules have now changed. In some high-trafficked locations in Lyon County as well as Washoe County, new rules have changed the areas to day-use only to discourage long-term camping or “Boondocking.”

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Thursday, April 29, 2021 that there are 25 new cases and 24 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad County region. This brings the total number of cases to 12,468, with 11,832 recoveries and 225 deaths; 411 cases remain active.
Nevada claimants receiving unemployment benefits will be required to do work search activities or training

CARSON CITY — As the state, and the nation, enters a new period of transition and with effective safety mitigation efforts in place, the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation announces a return to the pre-pandemic work search requirement, for all claimants receiving unemployment benefits in both the regular Unemployment Insurance (UI) and the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance programs.
