Nevada State High School Chief Operations Officer to speak to the Rotary Club of Carson City

The Rotary Club of Carson City’s weekly meeting will feature guest speaker Dr. Johnathan David Hawk, the Chief Operations Officer at the Nevada State High School. The public is invited to attend the online meeting which takes place Tuesday, September 1st, at noon.

The Brewery Arts Center will deliver live music directly to the citizens of Carson City while practicing social distancing once again this week.

Miles Construction Company has generously donated the use of a Flatbed Truck and with financial support from The Change Companies, the Nauman Foundation, and Carson Tahoe Hospital, all summer the BAC has placed musicians and bands on the flatbed and driven them through the streets and neighborhoods of Carson City and now the fun goes into September.

LDS Dems take center stage at Monday's Democratic luncheon

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic tele-luncheon will be Eric Biggart, Chair of LDS Democrats of America. The group, which is not affiliated the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, has as its slogan, "Same faith. Same values. Different perspective." Their mission, as laid out on their Facebook page, is to “promote the full participation of Latter-day Saints in the Democratic Party. We do this by providing educational and social resources to progressive, moderate, and conservative Democrats who are also LDS, and others who are interested in participating in a ‘no shouting’ environment.”

Poker run, lacrosse, duck fundraiser and more highlight weekend activities around Carson City area

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. The American Cancer Society is hosting a poker run Saturday at Mills Park, and a free lacrosse clinic for kids ages 6-12 will be held at John L. Harvey Field. The Nevada Humane Society is virtually hosting its annual “Adopt a Duck” fundraiser for interested participants. Quad County, Carson City COVID-19 Thursday briefing: 4 new cases, 11 recoveries

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Thursday, August 27, 2020 that there are four new cases and 11 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 971, with 880 recoveries and 15 deaths, 76 cases remain active.

Nevada COVID-19 task force flags Lyon County for having elevated risk, Humboldt now off list

The COVID-19 Mitigation and Management Task Force met Thursday with seven counties flagged last week for having an elevated risk of transmission of the coronavirus. Based on data provided by the Department of Health and Human Services, six of the seven counties are still meeting at least two of the three criteria, signaling a sustained elevated risk of transmission.
