Carson City’s newest restaurant, Squeeze In, held its official grand opening today with a ribbon cutting complete with a champagne toast, and Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak stopped in for lunch to welcome the new breakfast and lunch eatery to town.

Beginning April 3, Smith's Food and Drug Stores will no longer accept Visa credit cards as a form of payment because of the credit card company's excessive transaction fees, Smith's corporate offices announced in a statement.

Carson Kids Dental celebrates opening with ribbon cutting ceremony Friday

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting to mark the opening of Carson Kids Dental Friday. In attendance were Dr. Chelsie Todd, Chamber members and city officials, including Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell who helped Dr. Todd cut the ribbon on the new dental care clinic.

Dr. Todd and her staff are excited to provide quality care and a comfortable experience for kids in the community.

Fugitive woman apprehended for felony escape, meth possession

A 46-year-old transient woman was apprehended Thursday afternoon by Special Enforcement Team deputies after having allegedly escaped from the attorney general’s office. She was also arrested on two contempt of court warrants, possession of methamphetamines, drug paraphernalia possession, and attempting to conceal or destroy evidence.

SET Deputies arrested Sally Jean Whooley after they received a report that a bail bondsman had apprehended a fugitive.

RGJ politics reporter to be Democratic luncheon speaker

James DeHaven, who covers Northern Nevada and statewide politics for the Reno Gazette Journal, will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon.

A Dayton, Nevada, native, DeHaven is the winner of the 2015 James Foley Medill Medal for Courage in Journalism and a two-time recipient of investigative reporting awards from the Nevada Press Association, which acknowledged his work on stories uncovering fraud and tenant intimidation at a low-income housing complex, as well as a previously unreported backlog of parolees in the Nevada prison system.
