Free Hearing Screenings Offered Through Carson Valley Medical Center In Recognition Of World Hearing Day
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Mon, 02/25/2019 - 3:19pmWorld Hearing Day is March 3 every year, held to help raise awareness on how to prevent deafness and hearing loss and promote ear and hearing care across the world.
In recognition of the day, Carson Valley Medical Center is offering free hearing evaluations Friday, March 1 and Friday, March 8 through its Occupational Health Clinic in Minden at 897 Ironwood Drive.
Approximately 20 percent of Americans, or 48 million, report some degree of hearing loss. At age 65, the numbers grow to 33 percent. Additionally, nearly 15 percent of school-age children have some degree of hearing loss.

Nevada Dental Association to host Oral Health Awareness Day with lawmakers in Carson City

This is a passionate and involved group of Nevada dentists and UNLV dental students and non-profit dental programs, including Compassion Community Clinic, Adopt a Vet Dental and Healthy Smile Healthy Child.

Power outages in Carson City, high winds close Washoe Valley to all vehicles over 9 feet

Meanwhile, wind gusts flipped two vehicles on I-580 north of Carson City in Washoe Valley late Monday morning causing some traffic delays.
Nevada State Legislature: A look ahead at week 4

A bill to establish the Stewart Indian School museum is on the move Monday. Also on Monday, lawmakers will consider raising the maximum age of a “runaway or homeless youth” from 18 to 24. A physician assisted suicide bill will be heard Monday afternoon.

This annual golf tournament is played in honor of Realtor Alyce McCracken, a resident of Northern Nevada who had a passion for continuing education and training. Proceeds from the tournament benefit local high schools in the communities served by the Sierra Nevada Realtors including the counties of Carson City, Douglas, Churchill, and parts of Lyon.
Reno artist’s work showcased at Carson City's Legislative Exhibition Gallery

O’Hara’s exhibit, “Botanica Obscura,” can be seen for the next three weeks at the Nevada Arts Council’s Legislative eXhibition Series (LXS) inside the Nevada Legislative Building in Carson City. Throughout the 2019 Legislative session, the works of six Nevada artists is being featured. O’Hara is the second of the six artists and her display will remain in place through March 15.

Carson City arrests: Man jailed for suspicion of DUI, having guns while intoxicated
