Carson City's Pioneer High School art students recognized

Nevada bill brings Stewart Indian School Cultural Center and Museum to the brink of reality

Nevada Governor Kenny Guinn appointed Sherry Rupert to be executive director of the Nevada Indian Commission in September of 2005. Not too many years after Rupert’s appointment, plans began forming to develop a cultural center and museum on the campus of the Stewart Indian School, just a few miles south of Carson City, and AB44 is a part of the ongoing effort to bring that vision to reality.

Lake Tahoe man sentenced to prison for destruction of ancient archaeological sites

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A South Lake Tahoe man was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge John A. Mendez to one year and one day in prison and ordered to pay $113,000 in restitution for two counts of excavation and removal of archaeological resources from public lands and one misdemeanor count of unlawful possession of methamphetamine, U.S. Attorney McGregor W. Scott announced.

Meadowood Mall is hosting the 16th Annual Canstruction from March 6th-10th in Center Court. The structures will be built starting March 6th in Center Court, and mall visitors will be encouraged to cast votes for our award ceremony on March 7th.

The structures will be on display around the center following the award ceremony until they are taken down on March 10th. This unique design and build competition is presented by local sponsors such as Growing Smiles Pediatric Dentistry and will be benefitting the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.
