For something much more family friendly, a Halloween Party at the Library includes fun crafts and a costume contest. Author Sandie LaNae of Thin Veil Investigators is the featured presenter tonight at Washoe Lake State Park. She’ll be discussing some of her discoveries in ‘Weird, Haunted Virginia City.’ A fun night of jazz awaits at Living the Good Life with Tom Stryker’s Impromptu. AAA Carson City to host Nov. 1 Fall Festival and Chamber Breakfast Club
Submitted by editor on Tue, 10/25/2016 - 7:46pmAAA Carson City is hosting an open house Tuesday, Nov. 1 in conjunction with the Carson City Chamber of Commerce breakfast mixer.
The chamber mixer begins at 8 a.m. with breakfast and coffee at the AAA office, 2901 S. Carson Street. The fall festival continues from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. AAA will provide product discounts, games with prizes, and refreshments.
Suits for Soldiers

The collection will continue through the end of November. The clothing will be donated to veterans returning to the work force who are in need of professional clothing. Donations may be dropped off at any Farmers Insurance office in Carson City. The main collection location being 425 East Long Street, on the corner of Roop and Long Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For more information please call 434-0545.
South Valley Volunteer Fire Department Halloween Pancake Breakfast & Blood Drive

Native tradition celebrated during Nevada Day

“The Washoe tribe has been here 18,000 to 25,000 years,” said Martin Montgomery, who is organizing the powwow through the Red Hoop Singers. “It’s all a collaboration of community.”
Telegraph Street mural by Carson City artist to be unveiled Friday

“The main thing about my art is to make people feel happy — or what I call good medicine,” Sandoval said. “It’s more of a home feeling.”
Wungnema Open House this Sunday at Mills Park as part of Nevada Day weekend celebration
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Tue, 10/25/2016 - 1:09pmThe Foundation for Carson City Parks and Recreation is holding an Open House at the Wungnema House in Mills Park during Nevada Day Weekend on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016, from 2 to 5 p.m.
The building is accessible by the Park entrance on Saliman Road, opposite the high school. Admission to the open house is free. This will be an opportunity to learn about this historic building, about Indian history and culture, and about the Foundation. Open Houses are also planned for Sunday, Nov. 27, and Sunday, Dec. 18, also from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
