Daniel Gonzales files for Carson City Sheriff

Gonzales is running for Sheriff with the goal of increasing integrity, transparency, and accountability in the Sheriff’s Office, as well as restructuring the department to put more deputies in positions to better serve Carson City. “I understand today’s issues and have the vision to meet tomorrow’s challenges.”
Carson City Council, US Navy League to meet

This is a change of location. The dinner hour will begin after 6:15 PM. Attendees will be accessing the Casino Buffett from the Banquet Room. Our speaker will be Katherine (Kat) Miller, Col. USA, ret., the Executive Director of the Nevada Office of Veterans Services. She is a 34 year veteran of the US Army and a Military Correctional Specialist.
Public invited to hear students at Poetry Out Loud State Finals in Reno March 15

Fifteen students who gained the status of district finalists after a series of local competitions will vie for awards totaling $4,000 for the first, second and third place winners and their respective schools.
Carson City Fire Spring Academy accepting applications

Applications can be found at the Carson City Fire Department on Stewart Street or the Carson City Fire Deaprtment website here; all applications must be turned in by Monday, March 31, 2014.
Carson City man arrested on weapon charge, put on psychiatric evaluation hold
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 03/06/2014 - 12:16pmA Carson City man was arrested Wednesday and faces a gross misdemeanor charge of possession a dangerous weapon after he allegedly told his ex-wife that he would shoot it out with the cops and kill or be killed, and would kill himself before he would be captured.

It gave us hope that the Washoe people really do believe in their statement that “the Washoe Tribe have long considered themselves stewards of our land and continue to maintain that position, never to compromise or sacrifice our environmental and archeologically sensitive lands.”
In our opinion the development of a motocross track in the proposed location would be a complete contradiction to this statement.
Nevada JobConnect launches campaign for Carson City, Douglas and Lyon employers

Nevada JobConnect and the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) Employment Security Division are inviting employers to participate in its second Job Quest campaign being held in Carson City from March 10, 2014 to March 15, 2014.

The first, his monthly “Breakfast with Brad,” takes place Friday, March 7, at 7:30 am at the Cracker Box restaurant. All Carson City residents are invited to attend and ask questions or provide input about Carson City issues.
