Rescue teams called for injured climber in Clear Creek Canyon
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 08/23/2013 - 6:49pmCarson City fire department, sheriff's office and search and rescue responded Friday night to an injured 23-year-old Lake Tahoe climber in Clear Creek Canyon. The climber was stuck hanging from rocks in the canyon and may have compound fractures, said Sheriff Ken Furlong.
Care Flight was ordered to respond to the scene however the smoke was too thick for a helicopter to land. The climber was taken to Renown Medical Center in Reno.

Weekend air show at South Lake Tahoe canceled
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 08/23/2013 - 4:26pmThe 25th Annual Lake of the Sky Airshow at the Lake Tahoe Airport has been canceled Saturday due to the air quality conditions by the two large fires burning outside of the Lake Tahoe Basin. Also canceled was Sunday's Young Eagles Flights.
Friday night's "Pre-Flight Party" with special guest speaker WWII Triple Ace “Bud” Anderson is still confirmed. The Pre-Flight party is being held at the Flight Deck located at Lake Tahoe Airport beginning at 5:30pm. “Bud” will be joined with Vietnam Fighter Pilots Pete "Viper" Pettigrew & Mike "Wizard" McCabe.
Breathing masks offered free at Division of Public Health office in Carson City

They are available effective immediately in the lobby of 4150 Technology Way until 5 p.m. today (Friday, August 23, 2013), or until supplies run out.
