Nevada Expressions II Comes to Carson City: Art Show and Sale to Benefit Historic Preservation on the Comstock

After a successful run in Reno at the Sierra Arts Foundation Gallery, the Nevada Expressions II Art Show and Sale will come to Carson City. The opening is on Friday, April 26, 10 am – 8 pm, at the Great Basin Art Gallery at 110 South Curry Street and the show will run through Sunday.

The public is invited to the artists’ reception, Friday 4 – 8 pm. Stop by to meet and see the work of 25 of Nevada’s leading contemporary artists. The work is primarily paintings with some jewelry, ceramics, sculpture and mixed media.

Reid announces more than $5 million for Virginia City, Gold Hill wastewater upgrades

Nevada Senator Harry Reid today on Earth Day announced that USDA Rural Development has approved a loan of $3,002,000 and a grant of $2,312,794 to replace the wastewater treatment plant that serves the Virginia City and Gold Hill communities in Storey County. Playing three games in one day is nothing new to the Western Nevada College softball team, but pitching back-to-back complete games certainly is. Freshman pitcher Carlee Beck went the distance in the second and third games against North Idaho College Saturday in Coeur d’Alene.

She allowed just two runs per outing in helping the Wildcats win one of the three Scenic West Athletic Conference matchups with the Cardinals.
