Shoe Drive to Benefit The Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada
Submitted by editor on Fri, 09/28/2012 - 4:44pmThis fall, the Lodge Assisted Living Community is sponsoring SOLEmates, a month long program to help provide new athletic shoes to kids with The Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada. The number of children who need help in Carson City is disproportionately high when compared to other communities of its size. Too many kids don’t have life’s basic necessities; some even tape their shoes to keep them together. The goal of SOLEmates is to acquire 300 pairs of new athletic shoes to help those kids run, play and stay active.
Dayton High School Students to Fly with Care Flight

The ride is part of Care Flight’s “Flight for a Good Cause” fundraising effort. The students, two juniors and a senior are enrolled in Dayton High School’s HOSA; Future Health Professionals class.
Carson City authorities arrest woman after narcotics found in lost purse
Submitted by editor on Fri, 09/28/2012 - 3:56pmA Carson City woman faces felony drug charges after a lost purse inside a casino turned up with several narcotics inside.
Laura Sherlock-Yong, 46, was arrested Sept. 27 in the 500 block of North Carson Street.
According to the arrest report officers were contacted regarding a purse that was found by security officers inside a casino. The purse was opened for the purpose to find out who it belonged to and inside there was two baggies with suspected drugs, a straw for doing drugs and a pill bottle with several types of medication, according to the report.
