Three positions open on Carson City Airport Authority

The Carson City Board of Supervisors is seeking applications from persons interested in serving on the Carson City Airport Authority. The Airport Authority is a 7 member board that oversees all matters pertaining to the Carson City airport. Meetings are held the third Wednesday of every month in the Sierra Room at the Community Center.

Obama Talks About Commitment To Education, Keeping America Competitive, In Reno Campaign Stop

RENOPresident Obama talked about his ongoing commitment to education in a visit to this battleground state today, his first official campaign event of the year in Northern Nevada but his third visit to the area in just the past few months.

Obama’s campaign stop, to be followed by another event tomorrow in Las Vegas, comes to the state with the highest unemployment rate in the nation at 12 percent.

Woman slams car into pedestrian, gas station in South Lake Tahoe

A woman is in custody and a pedestrian was flown by air ambulance from South Lake Tahoe this afternoon after a hit and run accident that happened on 12th and Emerald Bay Road near James Street shortly before 5 Tuesday.
The suspect allegedly hit the pedestrian and then sped away and was chased by South Lake Tahoe Police Officer Donna Kingman. The suspect then crashed the Subaru she was driving into a tree near Tahoe Island and then, blowing stop signs and failing to stop for police, crashed the car into the front of the Chevron Station at 2070 James near Eloise.

CARSON CITY – The potential viability of Yucca Mountain as a long-term repository for nuclear waste was the focus of yet another discussion in Nevada today as lawmakers serving on the Legislative Committee on High-Level Radioactive Waste heard status reports on the now defunded project.

… And only a few organizations across the country are in a place where they can help. We are one of those few organizations. The Hyacinth Preservation Society must raise $5,000 to keep our organization operating for the next year. Your donation will pay for food, medical expenses, toys and other expenses we incur in the upkeep of the birds that we rescue. Carson High Booster Club receives a “boost” from the Carson Nugget

Carson City, NV—Carson High School football players will receive new helmets, shoulder pads and other equipment this year thanks to the generosity shown during the annual “Kick-Off Dinner” recently held at Carson Nugget.

At the start of each season, the Carson High Athletic Department and the Carson High Football Boosters raise money to support the program. This year the Carson Nugget provided the venue and split the revenue generated through the sale of alcohol to help the group generate income.
