UNR welcomes students to campus, residence halls for fall

More than 2,400 students will move into the University of Nevada, Reno’s residence halls starting Thursday in preparation for Monday’s first day of classes for the 2012 fall semester.
Residence hall assignments are up by 8 percent over fall 2011. A total of 2,450 students are assigned to the residence halls this fall, compared to 2,267 assignments in fall 2011. The University’s residence halls are at 110 percent of their design capacity, even with the opening of the new Nevada Living Learning Community residence hall which accommodates 320 students. To meet demand, rooms in Argenta Hall remain converted from doubles to triples and Juniper Hall remains double room occupancy versus single.

The University of Nevada, Reno’s fall 2012 enrollment will be finalized in September, following the “add/drop” deadline. It is anticipated to be in line with last fall’s enrollment of 18,000 undergraduate and graduate students, with perhaps a slight increase of a couple of percentage points.

Several special events and programs are being held on campus to welcome students. For a list of event details, go to http://www.unr.edu/welcome.
