April 28, 2012 - 11:00am The Tintabulations Handbell Choir will be returning to the Carson City Library on Saturday, April 28th for an 11:00 a.m. performance! The Dreams & Magic handbell concert will include a variety of music to go along with our upcoming Summer Reading Program Theme, "Dream Big, Read!" including nocturnal motifs and several well-known pieces from Disney movies. State Lawmakers Call For Review Of 20-Year Solar Contract
Submitted by Nevada News Bureau on Tue, 04/24/2012 - 5:01pmCARSON CITY – State lawmakers today approved $46,284 from a legislative contingency fund to help the Nevada Office of the Military cover a budget shortfall due to high energy costs resulting from a solar project built at three of its sites around the state.
But lawmakers also asked for an attorney general review of the 20-year deal with Sierra Solar to see if the 15 cent per kilowatt hour charge for the electricity can be modified. The rate is now higher than what the agency could get buying power directly from NV Energy.
Gardnerville man identified in North Lake Tahoe truck ramp accident
Submitted by editor on Tue, 04/24/2012 - 1:49pmThe deceased driver of the commercial truck that crashed through the runaway ramp at Mount Rose Highway near Incline Village on Monday has been identified as Eric S. Holton, 31 of Gardnerville.
Nevada Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched at 2:48 p.m. to the accident on State Route 431, approximately one-half mile east of State Route 28, near Incline Village. The vehicle involved was a 2006 gray Freightliner truck tractor pulling a 1989 flat bed trailer transporting composite decking materials traveling westbound on the two-lane highway.
U.S. Sen. Dean Heller Calls On Congress To Continue Defunding Of Yucca Mountain

UNR develops technology used for NASA quake monitoring test

RENO, Nev. — GPS technology developed and implemented at the University of Nevada, Reno will be the centerpiece of a major test this year by NASA to pinpoint the location and magnitude of strong earthquakes along the West Coast of the United States. The project was announced by NASA today.
Report Says Nevada Tax System Ranks Highly For Entrepreneurship and Small Business

The Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council’s “Business Tax Index 2012” pulls together 18 different tax measures, and combines them into one tax score that allows the 50 states and District of Columbia to be compared and ranked.
Restrictions lifted for some Humboldt County waters

Previously the regulation allowed for only the use of single barbless hooks for fishing these waters.
