Tickets available for VIP Celebrity Dinner ahead of Deputy Carl Howell Memorial Music Festival

Tickets are available for a Aug. 18, 2017 VIP Celebrity Dinner the night before the Aug. 19 Carl Howell Memorial Music Festival in Carson City.

The special VIP evening dinner at Empire Ranch Golf Course, is for people to meet and mingle with the celebrities, athletes and musicians who will be in Carson City to honor fallen Carson City Sheriff’s Deputy Carl Howell, said organizer Don Alexander, who formed the nonprofit The Last Respond Fund, to raise money for the Howell family.

There will be music and dancing with a live DJ. The Official Master of Ceremonies for the Dinner is going to be Legendary Las Vegas Comedian Tom Daw and Las Vegas Radio host Andre Hayes and it is being sponsored by ARMAC Construction.

Special Guests include Ty Herndon, the Rednex, Prezident Brown, Hollywood Actors Patrick Kilpatrick, Michael Pare and Actor and MMA Heavywight Champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Former NFL Player Vernon Fox as well as Reality TV stars James Huling, Cody Brown, Liz and Julia Nolan from CBS's hit show “Big Brother”, Lil Bit from the hit CMT show Party Down South and singer\songwriter Vivian Hicks.

Also in attendance will be United States Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, United States Congressman Mark Amodei, United States Congressman and Syndicated Radio Host Joseph Walsh, Nevada Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske, Nevada State Controller Ron Knecht, Nevada State Treasurer Dan Schwartz and Assemblyman Jim Wheeler. There will be more people added to the lineup soon and is subject to change.

The menu includes Green Salad, Mashed Potatoes, Grilled Vegetables, Chicken, Tri Tip and Chef’s Choice Dessert. This event is being held at the Empire Ranch Golf Course in Carson City with indoor and outdoor seating available.

Tickets are $100 which includes dinner. Only a limited number of tickets are available because we want an atmosphere where you get the chance to mingle with each of the special guests.

There will also be a fully stocked cash bar, raffle and commemorative photos will be available.

Meanwhile, tickets are on sale now for the Deputy Carl Howell Memorial Music Festival on Saturday, August 19. This all-day event, which is expected to bring thousands to Battle Born Harley Davidson in Carson City, will feature several well-known national, regional and local performers including headliners Ty Herndon, the band Rednex, and reggae artist Prezident Brown.

Additional music acts committed to the Carl Howell Memorial Music Festival include soul funk artist Trey Stone, classic rock band AudioBoxx, mixing artist Steve's Rockin' DJ, acoustic artist Canyon White, country and rock band Southbound Train, rock and funk band Stereo Galaxy, blues and rock band Moz's Motley Blues, Musicole with Michael Coleman, acoustic group Giants of Zen, and classic rock band Voodoo Cats.

The first-ever summer festival will also feature celebrities and other entertainers, including Las Vegas comedian and Larry the Cable Guy impersonator Tom Daw as well as Hollywood film and television actor Patrick Kilpatrick, the event's master of ceremonies.

Tickets for the concert are $20 per adult. Children 12 and under are free. Tickets will be available for purchase at several Carson City retailers, including Battle Born Harley Davidson, A to Zen, Hydra’s Lair, Retro Replay, and also through any Last Response Memorial Fund board member.

The Carl Howell Memorial Music Festival takes place just days after the second anniversary of Howell's death.

Howell, a nine-year veteran of the Carson City Sheriff's Office and a former United States Marine, was responding to domestic violence call in East Carson City early in the morning on Aug. 15, 2015. He was killed in the line of duty protecting the victim and his fellow officers from a suspect's bullet.

Howell left behind a wife and four children, who since then have been the recipients of an outpouring of support from the community.

Time to dust off those ten-speeds Carson City, because May is Bike Month in the capital city!

Carson City’s Muscle Powered hosts bike month each year in addition to their year-round volunteerism.

More than 48 Carson High School Future Business Leaders of America students attended the state conference in Sparks, Nev. this past week. In total, 38 of those students earned 74 “Top-10” placements in 30 separate events. On Saturday, April 20, Carson City Community Gardeners and the UNR Extension Master Gardeners came together to get the Community Garden ready for the growing season. For two hours they removed weeds, spread mulch and prepped their garden beds for the season.

In collaboration with Chartwells, the Carson City School District foodservice partner, Culinary Arts students from Ms. Tammy Borreman’s class at Carson Middle School competed in a “Discovery Kitchen Cook Off.” Similar to a mini version of the Food Network’s Iron Chef, the timed cooking competition featured teams of three students who prepared succulent dishes for a judging panel.
