Healthy habits on display at Boys and Girls Club in Carson City
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada held its annual Kick-Off to Summer and Camp Color Me Great Event in Carson City Saturday.
Representatives from community health agencies and youth-serving organizations — including Carson Tahoe Health, Boys Scouts, Girls Scouts and more — teamed up to provide fun-filled stations for kids of all ages.
Bike riding courses, spinning the wheel of fruits and vegetables, filling balloons, speed stack cups, face paintings, drawing tables, and cornhole toss kept the event lively with tons of healthy and exciting activities.
“I think child care should be a big priority here in Nevada,” said Hector Benitez, program director of the Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada. “So to offer a day like today at a discounted price and to let everyone know what the club and community members offer is really important to us.”
According to event operations director Matt Sampson, scholarships are available and meetings regarding scholarships will be held each Monday at 5 p.m.
Parents are advised to bring pay stubs to apply during the event, orientation sessions will also run on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. and Fridays at noon throughout the month of May.
Meetings in the month of June will also be available Mondays at 5:30 p.m.
