Soroptimist International of Carson City is seeking nominations for its annual Ruby Award. The Soroptimist Ruby Award honors women who, through their professional or personal efforts, are making a difference in the lives of women or girls in the areas of health, education, and economic and social development and inspires and encourages other women.

Nevada Health awarded FEMA crisis response grant to support statewide counseling

CARSON CITY — Through a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Nevada will be deploying 35 crisis counselors statewide to support Nevadans coping with the effects of COVID-19. The program will focus on a population health approach that encourages healthy coping and active management of stressors, building resiliency and fostering compassion.

Nevada governor to discuss Phase 2 re-open in videotaped message, press conference canceled out of caution

UPDATE: Late Tuesday afternoon it was announced that Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak canceled a planned press conference. He will instead address Nevadans in a videotaped message. In a news release from the Governor's Office it noted that late last week Gov. Sisolak had visited a work place where an employee — who was not in the building at the time — has since reported testing positive for COVID-19. The Governor’s Office learned of the positive test result on Tuesday.
